Professor David White is based at the Centre for Offshore Foundations in the University of Western Australia in Perth. His research interests include the installation and performance of piled foundations, the behaviour of offshore foundations and seabed pipelines and the characterization of soft soils.
He was awarded his PhD in 2002 from the University of Cambridge where he held a Lectureship until 2007, when he moved to UWA. At the age of 33 he has authored more than 100 technical papers, 5 of which have won awards.
He acts as a consultant to industry through the Perth-based firm, Advanced Geomechanics. He serves on two ISO/API technical committees tasked with drafting industry standards related to foundations and pipelines, and is Secretary of the ISSMGE Technical Committee concerned with Geotechnical Physical Modelling.
