Maurice Bottiau

MAURICE is Group Commercial Director of Franki Foundations Group Belgium, including Franki Geotechnics B, in Brussels, Belgium. The group operates through its subsidiaries in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, UK, Congo and Russia.

He has been involved in the DFI International Committee for more than 10 years, and has been actively working as a member of the Organization Committee for the last DFI international conference in Amsterdam, 2006. In 2005, he was a founding member of the DFI Europe and is currently assuming the role of treasurer of DFI Europe.


Throughout his career since 1986, Maurice has been associated with piling products, and with the broad range of Deep Foundations including slurry walls, tie-backs and soil improvement. He was involved in the upgrade of the CFA product line and the development of the Omega pile, a patented screw pile with lateral displacement of the soil, which is used by different partner companies worldwide (some of them in the USA). Maurice has authored or co-authored numerous papers on this topic and more generally on piling, in many international conferences of the DFI and other organizations.

Maurice is a graduate in Civil Engineering of the Free Brussels University and holds complementary degrees in Business and Sales Administration. In addition to being a DFI Individual Member, he is the Vice President of the Belgian Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and is the current Senior Vice President of the European Federation of Foundation Contractors (EFFC). He is also a member of the Contract and Qualification working Group of the EFFC.  He was appointed in 2004 Chairman of the European Technical Committee 3 (Piling Foundations) of the ISSMGE.
